Raise awareness

Raise awareness of the importance of quality to your organisation internally. Make staff aware of what quality means to your organisations and customers, and how they contribute. You can achieve this through newsletters, staff events, surveys, customer open days.

Introduce quality professionals to your organisation

  • Quality approaches and tools require competent quality professionals. If your organisation does not yet have qualified quality professionals, give someone the opportunity to join the CQI and champion quality in your business. Visit the CQI website for details about membership.

Enter an excellence award

  • Enter one of the London Excellence National Awards for:
    • Corporate social responsibility
    • Customer focus
    • Innovation
    • Leadership
    • Partnerships
    • Management systems and results.
  • the awards process will give you invaluable insight into improving your business processes. More about the London Excellence Awards.
  • there are a number of regional awards that allow you to benchmark your organisation locally against the complete EFQM Excellence Model:
  • you can also benchmark your organisation nationally by entering the British Quality Foundation excellence awards.

Quality has grown to embrace a wide range of approaches, tools and risks. These are just some quality related initiatives that your organisation may undertake:

  • Innovation initiatives:
    • product or service improvement programme
    • new product development project based on quality principles
    • corporate change programme
  • Care initiatives:
    • improve your environmental performance
    • manage safety risks
    • manage security risks
    • improve staff performance; for example through Investors in People (IIP)

Focus on customer service

Engage with your suppliers

  • invite your key suppliers to your organisation. A discussion on how good quality processes on both sides can benefit the bottom-line and might produce surprising results.

Attend a quality training course

  • the CQI runs a range of training courses designed to educate you and your staff in quality and management systems. Courses can be tailor-made to suit your specific needs, visit CQI quality training courses.

Promote quality in your office

Some ideas for promoting quality in and around your office environment:

  • organise awareness seminars for different members of your organisation who may not know much about the quality function
  • publish details of what you are doing on your organisation's intranet
  • put up posters around your offices to raise awareness
